As I begin my morning with a plunger in hand, declogging the kitchen sink, I reflect on my recent experiences, as alluded to in one of my recent posts. A dear friend from far to the south, came offering strong and ancient medicine.
This medicine among other things provokes a deep release, making it a powerful detoxifier. As I pull filth from the depths of the apartment sink to allow clear water to flow again, I continue to sit with the recent lessons of my own cleanse.
Let go of the old patterns, the old habits that produce feed for the hungry parasites. These energetic beings that feed off of our compulsions, off of the waste and scraps from our deeply rooted and harmful routines. These ghosts manipulate and attempt to control our actions. Here, they will remain unnamed.
By removing the patterns that limit our growth, we prevent the production of these toxins. These cycles create an endless food source for these creatures. Either real, a species existing in a metaphysical plane beyond our perceived 3-D reality, or simply a metaphorical tool used to explain our growth and folly, the lessons still stand.
They, through their subtle and quiet ways, will steer you. Their whispers ever so convincing, persuade you to choose the easy path. To reach for another cold glass, to avoid the confrontation, to light one more cigarette, to scroll the feed—just a little longer. Convincing you that you need them and that you cannot be complete, happy, or satisfied without them.
They are not ill-intentioned, they only seek sustenance as we ourselves do. We, in our addictions and compulsive nature, are production farms. Available, accessible, and convenient.
If we allow ourselves to purge these toxins, detoxify, and break these patterns, we free ourselves from the control of the hungry ghosts. A detox is easy, a purge through the right mediums may be difficult to find, though the process can be quick. However, there are many ways one can cleanse. One does not need friends in far-off places, all it takes is a little research plus a pinch of concentrated effort. Afterwards, the challenge lies in the breaking of the pattern.
Great discipline is required.
The detoxification process provides an opportunity. An opportunity for new patterns, new cycles. An opportunity to make the whispers a little less convincing.
Though creating new healthy habits can be hard, the idea is to gain responsibility. Responsibility for ourselves, our actions, our reactions, and our compulses. To gain integrity and self-dignity. To become a warrior.
An impeccable warrior has the power to confront the parasites, no matter how big or how sly. And to respectfully tell them, “I don’t need you any more.”
Though the sink may also require third-party support to release the stagnant water, its cleansing will create an opportunity to prevent future clogs. For myself, I will continue to learn and build the necessary discipline to keep the hungry ghosts at bay.
Allowing the water to flow.
Sunday☉ Blessings,
